The South Carolina mass shooter facing the death-penalty in the June 2015 shooting rampage that left nine people dead inside a Charleston church will have a little longer to prepare his defense. A judge postponed Dylann Roof’s trial until next year. His lawyers presented information in a hearing Wednesday from a doctor stating Roof needing lengthier psychiatric testing.
Roof’s original trial date was set for July 11 of this year. Circuit Judge J.C. Nicholson said the trial will get underway on January 17, 2017 with jury selection beginning in early December.
