She prefers focusing on connecting with her followers (she has over 160,000 on Instagram) and embracing being unique.
“At the end of the day, it is very difficult, but you’re not going to be able to erase the hate,” Trinity said.

She acknowledges how difficult it can be to ignore negative comments.
“Still being as young as I am, I would go through my comments and see not-so-positive ones, and it would upset me,” Trinity shared. “I’ve learned to just be confident in myself and be proud of everything that I do.”
The 20-year-old knows the importance of staying true to herself.
“There’s going to be people out there that have their opinions and don’t agree with what you put out, but I think it’s just staying true to yourself and putting out what you want others to see,” she added.

The soccer star also shared that her father’s legacy hasn’t pressured her, though it hasn’t always been the case.
“I think maybe when I was younger, a lot of people had this expectation that everything was handed to me,” she shared. “But in terms of actually on the field, I don’t think I struggled that much with that, just because we do play different sports, and I don’t think anybody had the performance expectations in a sense.”
In August, Trinity became the National Women’s Soccer League’s highest-paid player. Her contract extension with the Washington Spirit included a $1.1 million four-year deal.
