President Donald Trump weighed in on Colin Kaepernick's playing status in wake of several weeks of ongoing feuds with Black Congress members.

Trump was asked during an August 9 press conference about the blackballed former San Francisco 49ers QB. Kaep grabbed the national spotlight in 2016 when he began protesting against police brutality. By taking a knee during the national anthem, he was instantly subjected to criticism from the right.

The president stated teams are looking for good players who can help teams win. If Kaep is "good enough," he will play.

"Only if he's good enough," Trump told reporters. "Why wouldn’t he play if he was good enough? I think if he’s good enough, I know the owners — I know (Patriots owner Robert) Kraft, I know so many of the owners — if he’s good enough, they’d sign him […] I know these people. They would sign him in a heartbeat. They will do anything they can to win games."

The question, which seemed to come out of left field, was asked two days after the 31-year-old released a training video showing that he is still in playing shape.

Trump's seemingly positive comment also comes following multiple weeks of Twitter attacks against members of Congress. Most notably, he launched racist tweets at freshman lawmakers known as "the Squad," Rep. Elijah Cummings of Baltimore and Al Sharpton.

Nearly two years ago, Trump came out against the Take The Knee movement, which was sparked by Kaep's initial protest.

"Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when someone disrespects our flags to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now! Out. He’s fired! He’s fired!'" he said during a 2017 rally in Alabama.

Although there is still hope for Kaep, the odds of his return to the league are very slim. The Washington Post notes the former dual-threat quarterback is a likely fit with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have had a number of outspoken players who've produced well for the team.
