DJ Envy and his wife Gia Casey chatted with The Shade Room to talk about how they’ve navigated rough waters in their relationship and to promote their book about their marriage. In a viral clip of their conversation with the outlet, Casey says that she faked her orgasms with the 44-year-old.

The couple, who’ve been married for over 20 years and have six children, confronted a public cheating scandal involving Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Erica Mena.

“We would be intimate and he would be putting his best foot forward like, he is in the business of satisfying just all around,” she says in the clip. “He lives to make me happy and he puts his best foot forward in that role. So I would see him trying and really going to work, and I’m sure many women can relate, you want to reward that man for that work and the only reward that you have to offer is an orgasm. And even if I didn’t feel it, I would still be performative.”

DJ Envy says in the clip that he found out his wife wasn’t totally honest in the bedroom during a fight.

“We got into an argument and she was like, ‘You know I don’t really have an orgasm,'” he says.

DJ Envy recalled not believing her revelation, and added that he was “crushed” to learn the truth.

“I thought I was putting in work,” he explains. “I’m sitting there thinking I’m, you know, big daddy long legs.”

Twitter came to Casey’s defense, saying that not only is it normal and common for women to fake orgasms, but that putting the blame on Casey is the epitome of sexism.

“This actually makes me a little upset bc we have to stop lying to these men to protect their ego. All the guys are being dramatic as hell in the comments, but ultimately it’s if you knew better you would do better,” one user argued.

“Y’all gotta stop trying to shame people out of telling their truth,” another wrote. “This is a common issue where couples fail to communicate. So instead of taking this as an opportunity to protect his ego..how about you take this as a reminder to ask your partner how their needs can be met.”

Someone alleged that Casey shared her truth to The Shade Room to embarrass her husband.

“I’m convinced once you cheat on a woman and it becomes public she’s secretly trying to clown you every chance she gets,” one user wrote.

DJ Envy and Casey’s book, Real Life, Real Love: Life Lessons on Joy, Pain & the Magic That Holds Us Together, was released on Tuesday.
