The NFL confirmed that they hired former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to defend the league against ex-Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, who filed a race discrimination suit against them.

Lynch served as the attorney general during the Obama administration and is a Harvard Law graduate.

The former White House staffer, who is now a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, will work alongside Brad Karp, chair of the firm, to steer the legal proceedings, sources revealed to Bloomberg. NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy sent a statement to NPR confirming the news.

Flores' lawsuit against the Dolphins, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the NFL accuses the league of racial discrimination by preventing Black coaches and executives from obtaining critical positions during the hiring process, the New York Post reports.

After the news circulated, Twitter flamed Lynch's decision to represent the NFL against Flores, who is Black and Hispanic.

This is the same Loretta Lynch who was hired by BlackRock then worked for McDonald’s in a suit against black franchise owners.

So her working on behalf of the NFL isn't surprising. She's a really, really shitty person. https://t.co/gecwMqfRwo

If you're confused as to why Loretta Lynch, a Black woman, probably took a HUGE bag from the NFL to defend them in the Brian Flores case, then I automatically know that you don't understand that she used to be the US Attorney General…known as the nation's "top cop."

Top. Cop.

As Blavity previously reported, Flores was fired by the Miami Dolphins and was offered money to intentionally lose games. The former coach also said he sat through performative interviews as a qualified candidate, despite teams having already made a hiring decision.
