Mario might have had viewers captivated during his Verzuz battle with Omarion, but he may have lost their respect after announcing his latest collaboration, The Source reports.
The singer took to Twitter to announce his new song titled “Main One,” featuring Tory Lanez.
“#MARIOMONDAY special announcement! This Friday dropping new music! This one called “MAIN ONE”! S/O to my bro @torylanez ! We went crazy tap in!” the singer tweeted.
Fans were quick to come for him, blasting him for collaborating with Lanez, who has been accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
“he had me, then lost me. come on mario,” one viewer wrote.
“The way he coulda taken advantage of the versus praise and actually revamped his career but instead is doing this!” another added.
“Welp. That was a choice,” one unimpressed Twitter user commented.
One user pointed out that in 2020, the singer spoke out against the alleged assault.
“This you?” they asked, with a screenshot of a tweet from the “How Do I Breathe” singer asking Black men to “learn how to control our ego, anger, etc. at some point the switch gotta turn off! Protect black women! Heal black men! Love & respect each other!”
Another user shadily came to Mario’s defense.
“Y’all going in on Mario for working with Tory Lanez seems like a waste of time. You weren’t going to listen to that song with or without Tory Lanez,” they wrote.
