Following its world premiere at the 20th Annual Pan African Film Festival in February, writer/director (and S&A contributor) Nijla Mu'min's short film Two Bodies will next screen at the Women of Color Arts and Film Festival in Atlanta on March 17th. The film will also screen at the Fusion: Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Festival prestented by Outfest, on March 24th at the Hollywood Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. The Fusion film festival slate also includes Darius Monroe's short film SLOW, and Andrew Ahn's 2012 Sundance short film, Dol (First Birthday).
Two Bodies looks at the gray area between familial rejection and acceptance of sexual orientation, and the way a mother desires a daughter to uphold social codes, but not to the extent of breaking the bond of their relationship. Nadia, 26, moves back home with her mother who tried to mend her heart by setting her up with a man from her past, but all Nadia wants is the love of a woman.
