I'm talking about THE ONE AND ONLY Jimi Hendrix and not Andre 3000 trying to pretend to be Hendrix. I mean seriously, can anyone even come close to the real thing?

Legacy and Sony Music will release two films on Hendrix, on Blu-ray DVD, on July 10th – the legendary concert film Jimi Plays Berkeley, and the documentary Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child.

Berkeley chronicles two famous concerts that Hendrix gave at the Berkeley Community Theatre in May 1970, and will be presented in a new digitally restored transfer taken from the original 16mm negative.

Even better, this new version contains over fifteen minutes of footage not seen in the original documentary, including new never seen before performances of  "Voodoo Child," "Machine Gun," and "Hear My Train A Comin."

The DVD will also have new 5.1 surround stereo soundtrack mixed and supervised by Eddie Kramer, who was Hendrix's sound engineer.

Voodoo Child on the other hand is "an autobiographical journey told in the legendary musician's own words as read by Parliament-Funkadelic's Bootsy Collins, the film incorporates interviews with Hendrix, coupled with the artist's letters, writings and recordings to provide new insight into one of the most enduring icons of popular culture. The documentary features some of Jimi's greatest performances as well as rare and never before seen footage and photos including – for the first time ever – examples from the Hendrix family archive of the late guitarist's personal drawings, postcards home to his father, song drafts, sketches, and lyrics."
