Well, so far he's the only black actor attached to star in the film, so read into that whatever you'd like 🙂

Looking to continue expanding his brand, after the not-so sucessful attempt with Alex CrossTyler Perry continues to package his next project, the dramedy titled Single Mom's Club, which Lionsgate will distribute.

nullAs we've already reported, actors already cast in the film include heartthrob William LevyBridesmaids star Wendi McLendon-Covey, and as I said, Tyler Perry himself.

Today brings word that he's now cast Colombian-American actress Zulay Henao (photo-left) as one of the moms in the Single Mom's Club, which centers on a group of single mothers from varying backgrounds, who are brought together via an incident at the school their children attend, leading to the creation of a support group that helps all of them overcome personal obstacles.

If I recall correctly, there are supposed to be 3 single mothers in this film; so, if that holds true, then there's still one more mother to be cast, which I can only assume will be a black woman, given the backgrounds of the 2 women who've already been cast.

And also worth noting is… with William Levy being originally from Cuba, and Zulay Henao from Colombia, we can assume that Perry might be trying to tap into that ever-growing, and important Latino American market; while Wendi McLendon-Covey may draw white women.

Toss in Perry and his built-in base of primarily black women (as well as the likely black actress who'll be cast as the 3rd single mother), and he'll be hitting several key demos with this film.

As usual, in addition to co-starring, Perry will also be writing, directing, and producing.

With production scheduled to start at the end of the month in Atlanta, we should know who will make up the rest of the cast very soon.

Lionsgate has set Single Moms Club to open May 9, 2014.
