Summit Entertainment announced today that it will open Tyler Perry's I, Alex Cross flick on October 26, 2012 – the 4th Tyler Perry movie of the year!

Really looking forward to seeing that first trailer for this; really looking forward to it; and not because I think it'll suck, or will be great; neither actually. I have absolutely no idea what to expect here, and so I'm curious. That first trailer will tell us a lot, and could very well make or break the film, because I think a lot of you are just as curious as well – especially those of us who have our doubts.

So if those doubts are in any way validated in that first trailer, I think Perry will have some problems; but if there's even a bit of promise – enough to get us to question that doubt, even just a little bit, it means there'll be a much better chance of us seeing the film when it's released.

As for his faithful fanbase… what will they make of this non-Madea, non-heavy-handed morality play?

I dunno. All I can say is that, on average his Madea films have done much better than his non-Madea films, so the odds aren't in his favor this time.

But let's wait and see how it all shakes out… we might be pleasantly surprised; and maybe even blown away!

That October 26th weekend, I Alex Cross will be going up against Dimension’s Halloween 3D and Fox’s surfing pic Of Men And Mavericks. So it could very well win that weekend at the box office.
