Tyra Banks is leaving her hosting duties for Dancing with the Stars after a few years.
Banks has announced she will not return for a third season of hosting Dancing with the Stars. HollywoodLife posted a video of Banks from TMZ, in which she said she’s leaving the series to focus on her business ventures like SMiZE & Dream ice cream.
“So I’m really focused on business, like crazy, crazy, crazy focused on business,” she said in the video. “SMiZE & Dream is global, not just in UAE, but in many other countries that you will see. So I feel it’s time for me to really focus on my business and entrepreneurship and also producing more TV but behind the scenes…I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor.”
People also reported that Banks said she felt it was “time” to step away.
“Don’t you think it’s time? Yeah, I think it’s time,” she said. “…I’m an entrepreneur at heart. …I think my heart, my soul, is into my business, it’s also into producing new TV. …But I really, really want to focus on my business, and you can’t do that hosting a show.”
This news is a boon for DWTS fans who have grown increasingly frustrated with Banks as she hosted the popular series. Many felt that Banks was too awkward and self-centered in her hosting duties. They also felt she unintentionally offended contestants with her attempts at joking banter.
We’ll see who comes next to take her spot and join Alfonso Ribeiro on the dance room floor.
