Some UK big screen news…
First, songstress Leona Lewis will make her film acting debut in Vertigo Films’ musical comedy Holiday.
The movie follows Maddie (played by Hannah Arterton) who is set to marry Raf (Giulio Berruti) after a whirlwind romance in Italy. Maddie invites her sister Taylor (Annabel Scholey) to the wedding without realizing Raf is her sister’s ex-holiday fling.
The film will include 1980s songs like the Madonna’s Holiday, Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.
Principal photography has begun on Holiday! with a summer 2014 debut date scheduled in the UK.
No word on what role exactly Leona has signed up to play in the film, which is being directed by Max & Dania (StreetDance).
Music producer and composer is Anne Dudley (Les Misérables) and the choreographer is Litza Bixler (The World’s End).
And second, Metrodome has begun production on a thriller titled Meet the Guvnors, which is set in South East London where gangs reign.
No extended plot details yet.
The film will be British hip-hop group Rizzle Kicks front-man Harley Alexander Sule, who will also star in the film alongside Doug Allen, David Essex, Barrington Patterson (One Eyed-Baz) and Vas Blackwood.
Gabe Turner penned the script, with Leo Pearlman, Danny Potts and Cass Pennant producing.
The film is set for a UK release also in 2014.
