After the headlines surrounding that one Vegas show and Darius Jackson, Keke Palmer has teamed up with Usher for his “Boyfriend” music video. And while the singer doesn’t offer her vocals to the record, she plays a vital role in the video, which dropped Wednesday and not-so-subtly hints at her drama with Jackson. 

The video follows Palmer and two friends preparing to party in Las Vegas. The trio sips champagne in ropes as they prepare for their big night. They dance and pose for pictures in the hallway while Usher prepares for another night of his Las Vegas residency.

Though Palmer isn’t singing on “Boyfriend,” she does sing along to Usher’s “U Remind Me” while in an elevator with her girls. The video includes a dance break with Palmer and Usher wearing matching outfits.

Toward the end of the video, Palmer is seen in bed asleep. Her phone ringing wakes her, and she realizes she overslept and missed Usher’s show.

“I’m so tired… I am a mother, after all,” she says, winking to viewers.

A blooper ends the video. In it, Palmer laughs and flashes her phone to the camera, showing Usher on a video call.

“I was not expecting you to call me!” she exclaimed before falling back onto the bed.

An elated Palmer shared her excitement about working with Usher while announcing the music video on social media.

“Usher! I remember when I was 12 and auditioned for ‘In The Mix’ 🤣 You have been killing it all my life. As a true lover of the arts, your talent and craftsmanship are a rare combination that I aspire to achieve as a performer. You are a living legend who is worthy of awe! Thank you for encouraging me and seeing me as the entertainer I am,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I know I’m a gUrL but when I watched your videos, I never wanted to be the girl in them, I wanted to be YOU. Thank you for making a dream come true.”

Fans were excited to see the two singers team up too.

“Keke Palmer ate this 😭😭😭,” one tweeted.

 

“Keke Palmer and Usher had the chance to do the funniest s**t ever…AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID 😭,” another wrote.

One user integrated Usher’s “watch this” meme into their commentary.

“Keke Palmer after her “boyfriend” threw a fit over the concert dress,” they wrote.

And another speculated Jackson would be “sick” over Palmer’s appearance in the video.

“Keke Palmer is In Usher’s new video and I know her baby daddy (not her man) is about to be sick. Keke said you think you had a problem at the concert, but watch this 💀💀😂😂😂,” they wrote.

Meanwhile, it seems that Jackson and Palmer are officially no longer together, with a source close to the former telling People, “He’s moved on.”
