Usher has many talents, including being a Grammy-winning singer. But who would have thought he once had to watch over Beyoncé?

Entertainment Weekly reported that the “Lovers and Friends” artist appeared on the U.K. radio show Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, revealing he had to watch Queen Bey and her then-bandmates when they were younger.

“Fun fact: I knew Beyoncé when she was 12 years old, 11 years old,” the 44-year-old said in the interview on Friday. “She used to be in a group by the name of the Dolls. I don’t know if I could consider myself their babysitter, but I actually had a time where I had to watch the Dolls.”

Usher reportedly took on the role of “babysitter” after being at record producer and songwriter Daryl Simmons’ house.

“I was at [Simmons] house. He was working with the Dolls at the time, and I just happened to be over there, and they were working on a session,” he explained. “I kind of found my way into being their, like, I don’t know, chaperone, nanny, or something like that because I was kinda the oldest person in the room.”

Years later, the two legendary musicians have maintained longevity in their careers. They’ve earned multiple awards, sold-out tours and residencies, leaving a lasting imprint in the music industry.

In 2008, the pair collaborated on Usher’s single “Love in this Club, Pt. II” alongside rapper Lil Wayne. The song peaked at No. 18 and spent 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Usher has remained quite busy with his highly anticipated Los Vegas residency. Blavity reported that he recently spoke out about the backlash actor Keke Palmer received from her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, after sharing a controversial moment with the singer at one of his shows.

“I think everybody’s vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas,” he told People. “And that’s what I hope came out of it. Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song.”

He continued: “Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to. But it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.”
