Small Of Her Back is a feature length film we've been following since its 2010 Kickstarter campaign that raised $10,000 in completion funds.
It's been a long journey for the film, and it will finally make its world premiere at the 2012 Urbanworld Film Festival next month, in NYC.
Written and directed by Russell Sharman, Small Of Her Back stars Nicole Beharie (keep in mind, this was shot at least a year before Shame, The Last Fall, Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day, and the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic, 42), and Christopher Domig.
The film centers on a troubled young woman who never leaves her apartment, and the stranger who appears at her door in the middle of the night.
The filmmaker calls it "a kind of dark romance," emphasizing the strength of the performances from the two leads, who carry the entire movie.
The Urbanworld festival schedule isn't live yet, so no word on when exactly (day and time(s)) it'll screen. The festival runs from September 19 – 23, in NYC, at midtown Manhattan's AMC 34th Street.
In total, 49 films, including 17 world premieres, will screen.
You can check out the full lineup (the Opening Night film hasn't been announced yet), as well as ticketing info, by visiting the Urbanworld Film Festival's website HERE.
