The Venice Days section lineup taking place during the upcoming Venice Film Festival includes an international selection of 12 films, plus the 3 finalists for the European Parliament’s Lux Prize.

Venice Days is a separate festival within the Venice Film Festival, running from August 28-September 7

Among the event’s highlights are the second edition of its Women’s Tales sidebar, which includes two films highlighting works by women filmmakers:: Ava DuVernay’s short The Door, and Le Donne della Vucciria from Palestinian actress and director. Hiam Abbas.

The event will also feature five special out-of competition screenings, including Lenny Cooke (on the basketball phenom who saw his dreams of playing in the NBA squandered) from Benny Safdie and Joshua Safdie, showing as part of a collaboration effort with the Tribeca Film Festival, and Tres Bodas de Mas from Javier Ruiz Caldera, Venice Days’ closing film.

In total, 17 countries will be represented in the section this year.

The 70th Venice International Film Festival runs from August 28 to September 7.
