A doorbell camera at a Black family’s home caught a 9-year-old white boy aggressively banging on their front door with a whip on Thursday. The boy stood on the front porch demanding to speak with the couple’s daughter, according to WFAA.

“We know the history of the whip,” the girl’s father, Dezerrea Nash, said, according to WFAA. “This is a racial issue. He comes to the door with a whip.”
Police authorities say the boy intended to confront the girl over a “bullying issue.”

Carissa, the girl’s mom, posted the video on her Instagram, saying, “This kid comes to my door with a whip looking for my 9 year old daughter, then puts a big ass scratch on our Audi,” she said of the incident that occurred in Kaufman County, Texas.

When the mom alerted the police, Carissa said they told her that “it’ll work itself out since he moving soon.”

The parents explained that the boy came to their house carrying a whip to confront their daughter after the two children had a scuffle earlier in the day.

“The kid claimed as he was walking home that he was jumped by our son. Our son is 13 years old. He gets out of school two hours after the 9-year-old gets out of school so there’s no way our son could’ve touched or even seen this 9-year-old who claims he was jumped by our son,” the couple said in a video posted to Instagram.

The parents also said that a neighbor recorded the child damaging their car.

According to the video, after the boy appeared at their front door and Carissa chased him away, she said, “Little boy, you better get your [expletive] off my porch, beating on my door like this.”

“I will call the police. You need to leave. Don’t you ever beat on my [expletive] door like this. Go,” she added.

The boy hesitated at first, she said, eventually leaving their house.

When the Nashes went to confront the boy’s father, identified as Bryan Thomas Brunson, they said he angrily told Dezerrea to leave his property. Brunson then allegedly mishandled his weapon, which caused it to fire in the direction of his own daughter, according to TMZ. The bullet, however, did not hit her. Brunson is now facing felony charges and has retained an attorney.
