After the incident, the student allegedly hugs Williams’ son to make light of the traumatizing situation.
Northampton County’s interim superintendent, Del Burns, sent a written statement to WRAL and said he learned of the video early on Sunday.
“The principal called the interim superintendent and discussed the matter. The principal investigated the situation throughout the day. Monday morning he met each of the students and their parents as part of the on-going investigation,” Burns wrote, according to WRAL.
Burns did not publicly state what disciplinary measures were implemented toward the boy and his accompanying peers, but Williams said, “They assured me that the boys, you know, would not be at school for a while.”
Willams said that she wants the boys expelled before sending her son back to Conway Middle School.
“I don’t feel comfortable with that boy being around my son in no way, shape, or form,” she added.
Burns said the principal is reviewing safety protocols and has spoken to the accused parties.
