A Florida mother is speaking out against a racist white parent who harassed a group of Black children.

The situation went down outside of South Miami Middle School on the morning of May 2. An unidentified white parent allegedly thought that a group of Black teens had hit his car, and he proceeded to confront them while throwing racial slurs.

During the ordeal, one of the boys took out his cellphone to record.

“[expletive] you better get the [expletive] away from me. You better get away from me. I’ll go to jail, but I’ll knock you on your [expletive],” the middle-aged parent tells the children on camera.

“Listen, negro, get the [expletive] out of my face, [expletive] negro mumbling cracker,” he added.

In response, the children referred to the man as a “cracker.”

“I’m proud to be a cracker. I’m happy with what I see in the mirror every day, are you?” the parent replied. “Are you happy when you see Black in the mirror?”

The matter, which thankfully didn’t turn physical, understandably left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, prompting one of the boys’ fathers to approach the white parent to discuss the matter the very next day. However, the man refused to engage and sheepishly drove away.

“I was boiling, I was boiling. I was very upset. I was disappointed, this is not the way a person should talk to a child,” one child’s mother, who asked to remain anonymous, said. “The guy just kept going.”

“This is just ridiculous. My child should not have to come to school and deal with this. At the end of the day, you got to deal with the parents,” she continued. “My son, yes, he’s a Black boy. He has a mother and a father. You need to talk to us. You don’t talk to him like that.”

School officials were soon notified of the disturbing matter, prompting Miami-Dade County Public Schools to release a statement.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is disappointed by a recent incident that took place between a parent and a student outside of South Miami Middle School before the start of the school day,” the district noted. “Currently, Miami-Dade School Police is conducting a thorough investigation regarding the matter. M-DCPS remains committed to fostering a welcoming learning environment by highlighting the importance of respect and restraint.”
