Styles P rushed to a Black women’s side after witnessing her being forcibly arrested by police in Yonkers, New York, Complex reports.
A video of the rapper’s heroic moment shows the 47-year-old rush to the woman’s side as police pushed and held her down to the ground outside Juices for Life. The officers roughly handled the woman, who was unarmed at the time, and attempted to put handcuffs on her while telling her repeatedly that she’s under arrest. The video does not show what inspired the cops’ behavior.
A witness who recorded the incident approached the woman on the ground with Styles P, who called one of the cops “a whole bitch” and “a f**king h*e” for how they manhandled the woman on the ground. Styles P instructed the woman on the ground to “loosen up,” which Complex explains was probably to prevent injury or additional charges.
He then approached the cops to stand up for the woman on the ground.
“I’mma back up. Don’t touch me,” he said as one of the officers got in his face. “You slammed a girl! For no reason.” Styles P also called out one of the officers for having his gun in hand as he went after the woman on the ground.
Thankfully, the incident appeared to be deescalated by the end of the video.
Many viewers praised Styles P’s bravery on social media.
“The respect I have for Styles P has never wavered. Today, it went through the roof,” One Twitter user wrote.

But Styles P shared on Instagram Live on Tuesday that he feels he acted irrationally, HipHopDX reports.
“Now, look. On behalf of all young Black people who seen the video, I was wrong because you have to be careful with what you do and how you speak out here because we’re all at danger,” he said during the Live video. “But we also gotta kinda step up when we see shit being done wrong.”
He continued, saying, “I definitely should’ve delegated it better and, usually, I actually do delegate it better. To be honest with you, I go through that a lot, but most of the time, it turns out in a positive manner, so there’s never going to be footage of it.”
Styles P shared that he was “caught off guard” seeing police treat a woman so violently, and while he said he’s not anti-law enforcement, he does hate the way they mistreat people in neighborhoods they don’t understand and fear.
“I don’t want to see the cops fired, I don’t want to see the cops lose their job, lose their lifeline,” he continued. “I want to see them be able to delegate where they at. I don’t actually blame them so much. I gotta blame the system.”
The rapper also urged viewers to protect those around them, but not in the same way he did.
“We gotta all stand up and say something about it at some given point in time. You can’t just expect to come to people’s neighborhoods and slam their women and children around, especially with all the f**king death that’s happening all the time, and expect everybody to be mentally healthy and stable and accept the shit. But also, don’t do what I did. That’s not the smartest way to go about it.”
