Draymond Green was upset after a call was made against him during the first half of the Warrior’s second-round playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, according to NBC Sports. A foul was called on the power forward, and when he went to talk to the official, a fan jumped up and tried to help him calm down.
In a viral video of the incident, a worked-up Green made his way to the sidelines to confront the official. While discussing the foul, a woman in the background sitting court-side tried to get Green’s attention. With her wine in hand, she scooted to the edge of her seat and appeared to attempt the power forward from receiving a technical foul.
Viewers on social media applauded the woman’s attempt, playfully calling her “wine mom” and “Draymom.”
“Hahaha, i love how she was getting involved. Dubs fans are the best,” a user replied to a tweet of the video.
“The sweetest drinking buddy you could ever have <3,” one person wrote.
“I was screaming the same thing at the tv,” another added.
One viewer noted that Green was probably having a rough night.
“Draymond learned that a friend/former MSU teammate was killed earlier in the day,” they wrote. “While he should have received at least one T yesterday, perhaps officials were trying to cut him some slack. Kinda can’t blame them.”
The playoff series has also spurred hatred from viewers. According to Complex, an investigation into a Memphis weatherman is underway after he made a racist comment about Green. The weatherman, Joey Sulipeck from Fox 13, seemingly compared Green to a monkey on Twitter during Game 3 of the Grizzlies-Warriors playoff game.
“And chew on this: Draymond runs his knuckle-dragging open mouth ALL GAME LONG, but mild-mannered Kyle Anderson disputes one call and gets ejected?” Sulipeck allegedly wrote. “Next level jackassery.”
Sulipeck has since deleted his Twitter account after getting backlash from viewers.
Fox 13 said they’re taking the tweet seriously, and plan to take the “appropriate action.”
“During Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies’ game, Meteorologist Joey Sulipeck tweeted a comment that does not reflect the values of FOX13,” the station wrote in a tweet. “We take this matter very seriously and will take appropriate action pending a full investigation.”
