Award-winning, no-holds-barred, Congolese thriller, Viva Riva! has already opened in cinemas in New York and LA, and gets its UK release next Friday, June 24th. Last month the film was featured on Al Jazeera’s Fabulous Picture Show, with a Q&A with the film’s director, Djo Munga.

Also featured in this episode is a 3D film by Wim Wenders, in tribute to German choreographer Pina Bausch, entitled Pina; and The Devil’s Double, a film about the man who doubled for Uday Hussain, the sadistic son of the former Iraqi dictator. The Viva Riva! Q&A section starts at 9:36, and Munga talks about Congo’s history, his use of violence in the film, and the chances of a Viva Riva! sequel.

If you’re in London and would like a chance to see the film before it’s released, and to ask the director a question, you can get the chance at The Ritzy Picturehouse on June 23rd. You can also book your tickets for the Viva Riva! Launch After Party which follows the screening and Q&A.
