Vivica FoxIn case you haven’t already heard, a sequel to Syfy’s 2012 viral smash, Sharknado, is in the works.

Despite trying more than a few times, I just haven’t been able to get through the entire film. Maybe it’s one of those that’s better appreciated when you’re high?!
Maybe I’ll be more inclined to watch the sequel because Vivica A. Fox has been cast as one of the players? Probably not, but it’s worth a shot I guess.
That’s right, Vivica A. Fox will join Mark McGrath, Kelly Osbourne, Andy Dick, Judah Friedlander, and Judd Hirsch to star in (said in my best movie trailer voice) Sharknado 2: The Second One.
I have to admit I chuckled at that title, so I’m off to a good start.
Principal photography is set to begin production next week on a film that will be directed by Anthony Ferrante (he also directed the first film), from a screenplay by Thunder Levin (a fitting first name for the screenwriter of a film centered on a fatal storm).
The story this time around: A freak weather system turns deadly in New York City, unleashing a “sharknado” (what else?) on the city.
Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will return to help save the city.
Vivica A. Fox will play Ian Ziering’s old high school friend, named Skye. Although no word on how involved her character will be in the overall story.
It’s a paycheck.
The first film was a social media smash, which likely helped drive eyeballs to the Syfy network when it aired. I’ll look for a similar kind of virtual contribution.
