Rapper Waka Flocka Flame was honored this weekend with an honorary doctoral degree in philanthropy and humanitarianism from the Bible Institute of American Theological Seminary during a small ceremony held in New York City.

During the Saturday celebration, the 34-year-old "O Let’s Do It" rapper was praised for his commitment to philanthropy and community service work for nearly a decade, according to Inquistr.

"I got [an] Honorary Doctorate in Philanthropy and Humanitarianism," Waka wrote on a social media. “my work just beginning!!!"

Earlier this year, Waka dedicated himself to suicide prevention work and the advocacy of mental health on Twitter.

“I’m officially dedicating my life to suicide prevention and mental illness!!!” he tweeted. “Y’all not alone Waka Flocka Flame is with y’all now!!!!

In 2013, the rapper’s brother, an artist known as KayO, died by suicide, according to the New York Daily News. Waka told Vice that he regretted not picking up the last phone call from his brother or being attentive to his needs during a dire time.

“I don’t know who else he called, but what if I had picked that call up? That’s when I said like, ‘This rap s**t, f**k this rap s**t.’ I’m tryna work so much to keep everybody happy, when reality was going by. What the f**k was my little brother going through to kill his self? Goddamn, that’s how stressful this sh*t is? That crazy? What he had to go through, to be Waka Flocka’s little brother,” he said. “And how am I that busy that I couldn’t recognize that?”

With the 10-year anniversary of the artist’s Flockaveli album on Monday, dozens of fans and supporters sent virtual well wishes to Waka to celebrate his new degree honor.

“Waka scholar flame,” one supporter wrote.

Another person posted “It’s sad you get more likes these days holding a Draco vs a Degree ???? Congrats Black Man!!!”

Former label mate and rapper Frenchie wrote, “When I say your powerful I mean it ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????.”

Waka’s peers were just as impressed and happy for him as his fans. Popular hip-hop artist Lil Yachty made a special video tribute to Waka thanking him for successfully taking on a challenge many in the industry have yet to tackle.

"I think that's some s*** we need to celebrate in the hip-hop community," Yachty said.

"It's not a normal thing but it's an amazing thing," he continued. "I always wanted to go back to school to get my degree. That was very inspiring to me as a Black man. So, big congratulations to Waka Flocka for getting his doctorate."
