WarnerMedia has talented Black voices and they’re crediting their impeccable HBCU college experiences for that.

In honor of National HBCU Week, WarnerMedia released a special video salute to their HBCU alum team members and talent who wear school pride like a badge of honor. The WarnerMedia team includes industrywide talent that have graduated from HBCUs across the country, including CNN anchor Fredericka Whitfield, voiceover actress Ashleigh Hairston and This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson.

Throughout the week, the featured HBCU alumni will highlight the various roles in front of and behind the camera.

“It gave me a sense of self, it gave me pride in my community,” said Sr. Director of CNN says William Mitchell.

Digital vignettes will be available on the Warner Media site and YouTube as part of WarnerMedia’s ongoing efforts to highlight the importance of HBCUs and the contributions their graduates have made to society and the news and entertainment industry at large.

WarnerMedia participants share how the unique culture and community at their respective alma maters have contributed to their success and career longevity. The overall series takes an in-depth look into how the themes of impact, purpose, relationships, recruitment, and community associated with HBCUs exist within the Company.

“I feel that the hands-on experience that you get going to an HBCU, you may not get at other institutions, which has prepared me and given me an advantage to work for other companies including WarnerMedia,” added Digital Media Coordinator at TBS, TNT and truTV Sydnie West.
