Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty was released from prison this week, according to his attorney. The artist, whose real name is Lontrell Williams, was incarcerated at a high-security prison in Pennsylvania, where he served a 63-month sentence.

As of Oct. 6, Williams was no longer in federal prison, according to records by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. As FOX 13 reported, it wasn’t immediately clear if he had been released or transferred.
His attorney, Bradford Cohen, then confirmed that the rapper was released on Monday after a combination of time served and good behavior. He said he is happy to see Williams being released from prison and that the rapper is looking forward to making music again, according to Action News 5.
Why did Pooh Shiesty go to prison?
Williams was sentenced to five years and three months in prison in a Miami federal court in April 2022. He pleaded guilty to firearms and drug charges as part of a deal that dropped three other charges. The rapper shot at two people who were meeting up to buy weed and sneakers in a 2022 Miami incident. The judge had already credited him for one year of time served because he was held in custody while awaiting sentencing.
In August, Williams shared an update about his incarceration on social media. He expressed gratitude towards the fans who supported him.
“Aye mane say mane that’s how you walk that lil t down,” he wrote on Instagram at the time, according to Billboard. “[Shout-out] to all the ones who counted me down and not out, the support and love i received on this roller-coaster is unmatched, S/O to all the good men i stomped the yard with like chris brown.”
Williams also sent a message about not snitching while serving time for committing a crime: “S/O to the other selected few rappers who name hold weight in these fed walls,” he added. “Dear streets, use me as a example of what ‘keeping it solid and standing on wax’ look like. now nobody can fool you or tell you different, Ain never going, Ain never went! i stamp it! im rich as i ever been lit as i ever been! IF YOUN FEEL ME k1ll ME ! #TheBiggestGetBack.”
