Two more clips from The Weinstein Company release, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which stars Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela and Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela, in a film directed by Justin Chadwick, which highlights Mandela’s early life, education and 27 years in prison.
The first gives viewers a glimpse at Sophiatown – a rallying point for anti-apartheid agitation during the 1950s.
And the second highlights Mandela’s early days as an attorney, in the 1950s, when he and Oliver Tambo (fellow anti-apartheid activist and African National Congress central figure) opened their own law firm, operating in downtown Johannesburg.
The Weinstein Company will open the film in the USA on November 29 – likely as one of its Oscar contenders.
