nullIts first episode premiered on June 26, and tonight, the supernatural web series Evolve has just released its second episode titled Birthday.

Created by Kia T. Barbee, Evolve, a three part supernatural series about “about acceptance of self and responsibility seen through the eyes of a reluctant heroine,” centers around Donia Reyes, a sheltered teenager who inherits super abilities.

Here’s more about Evolve:

Throughout the series Donia struggles to maintain a balance between what she wants and what she’s destined to become, which is consistently challenged by her nemesis and teen villain in the making, Troi Lawson. Evolve offers a diverse, solid conflict driven story with cool special effects and fun teen characters that are people friendly in the fact that they are relatable (not glitzy or thrive in an adult free environment).
Part One is told in five separate episodes and showcases the beginning of Donia’s journey in dealing with her new-found abilities and strict traditions of her super powered family.

The Story: Part One

Creator’s Statement:

Evolve was born out of a need to address a dream of mine, which was to tailor a superhero themed story about a black teenage girl in the vein of Spider-man, yet is identified as antihero. Like most fans of the superhero craze, it started when I was a youngster. My particular favorites were Spiderman, Bionic Woman, The Incredible Hulk and X-Men. I’m also a Sci-fi buff, so other influences for Evolve include the Star Wars saga—namely Anikan Skywalker/Darth Vader. So it’s not at all surprising that I find myself 20 years later finally having the courage to present my contribution to the genre.

“Super thank you for watching Episode 1 and leaving comments. There will always be roadblocks smaller budgeted indie projects face, so I completely understand your thoughts. With that, I encourage you to Subscribe to Evolve’s Youtube Channel, keep watching, commenting and sharing because the story is the tie that binds and I’m truly humbled and delighted that you’ll GET IT. Keep watching!”  – Kia T. Barbee
