Sorry, they’re set to autoplay, and I couldn’t figure out how to recode so that they don’t!

A few clips from the Irish action/comedy, The Guard, which Don Cheadle co-stars in; it was acquired for domestic (stateside) distribution by Sony Pictures Classics, at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which is where I saw it.

Thought it was ok. Some laughs; it’s a buddy-cop movie, with Cheadle as the sidekick fish-out-of-water FBI agent. Brendan Gleeson is the other half, essentially playing an Archie Bunker-type, with more smarts and courage than his initially leads on.

Directed by John Michael McDonagh (his feature-film debut) the film stars Gleeson as a local cop who begrudgingly assists an FBI agent (Cheadle) in hunting down members of an international drug smuggling ring whose key members have taken up residence in the small Irish town the film takes place in.

It opened in the USA on July 29th, in limited release, so it’s out there if you’re not aware of it, or haven’t seen it. It opens in the UK today.

Here are 4 clips (and a trailer if you haven’t seen it yet) with the dynamic duo, which should give you some idea of how this goes:
