Courtesy of an email I received from the film's screenwriter Teneille Newallo, who also appears in fellow T&T (Trinidadian, Tobagonian) filmmaker Nicholas Attin's second film, Escape From Babylon (a film we profiled about 3 weeks ago).

Teneille states that they are currently seeking funding for the feature-length film, which is titled The Cutlass – a production which recently won a BPTT Film In Development Award, at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival this year.

The production has also received hefty support from both local and international sponsors, all based on the short version of the feature film the filmmakers are seeking funding to complete.

A synopsis for The Cutlass reads:

After enduring a terrifying robbery, Joanna falls into the dangerous grasp of a sociopath, and is taken into the depths of the secluded jungle. She finds herself isolated in a world of natural beauty as she musters the courage to emotionally battle the unsettled mind of her kidnapper. Inspired by a true story, THE CUTLASS slices a path through the vines of intellect and delusion to explore the depths of mental strength, unforeseen sympathy, internal freedom and the human spirit.

It'll star Germany-born and Tobago-raised Lisa-Bel Hirschmann and Trinidadian, Tobagonian actor Arnold Goindhan, with Darisha Beresford directing from a script penned by the aforementioned Teneille Newallo.

The filmmakers shot an 8-minute piece of the feature length script, to give us and all their supporters and investors, a glimpse at what to expect. The 8-minute clip is embedded below, so check it out.
