On a live CNN broadcast, political commentator Angela Rye and conservative radio host Ben Ferguson debated the NRA, gun control and the Second Amendment. While making a point about gun control, Rye said that the NRA does not protect black lives and that she was not there to play games.

"The point is the second amendment doesn't even apply to black lives … it doesn't apply to Philando Castile or Alton Sterling," she said.

Rye said she was frustrated, but not surprised by the outcome of Sterling's case. Ferguson then chimed in with nonsense. He said police officers tried to use non-lethal force on Sterling. Ferguson added that Sterling was found with a gun in his pocket. According to Ferguson that made him worthy of death.

"You don’t get to negotiate with the police when you have a gun in your pocket and you’re fighting them and resisting arrest while they’re tasing you,” Ferguson said.

On July 5, 2016, 37-year-old Baton Rouge resident Alton Sterling was standing outside of a convenient store when an altercation with police resulted in his death. Officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake, will not face charges for killing Sterling.

Rye gave the perfect response to Ferguson's ignorance: “You are out your damn mind!” she said.

“You're out of your mind because let me tell you why, this is the only country — this is the only place in the world where someone will get killed, and we talk about what’s in their system.” Rye said. “What I’m telling you is he was not fighting police — what I’m telling you is, he was fighting for his life and mercy. And if you don’t understand that, I don’t know how to help you!”
