Interesting that these two projects were released around the same time. Earlier this week, we posted about Black Mad Men, a riff on the lack of diversity on AMC’s hit drama Mad Men. From Morgan Evans and Phil Augusta Jackson, the project stars SNL‘s Sasheer Zamata.
But as pointed out in the comments of that post, there’s another Mad Men parody that’s been in the works for a while. This one, called Mad Black Men, comes from graphic designer-turned-filmmaker Xavier Ruffin.
The series is described as “a dramedy following three black ad workers as they weave through a racially insensitive 1960s world of advertising trying to keep their eyes on the prize and off the wrong women.”
We posted about the project last September when Ruffin launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund production. And earlier this week, the first of six episodes was released.
