Forest Whitaker and Common co-star in this indie crime drama alongside Michael Chiklis and Ray Liotta, titled Pawn.
The film, directed by first-timer David A. Armstrong, tells the story of a hostage situation gone terribly wrong, and is produced by Chiklis’ production company Extravaganza Films.
A group of gunmen who hold up a diner only to discover that the establishment is owned by the mob. The situation quickly escalates and cops, feds and mafia are introduced to the hostage situation, as an ex-con becomes entangled in a manipulative chess game between them all.
Pawn will be released by Anchor Bay Films, and as I learned this morning, it’ll bypass theaters and head straight to Blu-ray/DVD on April 23rd, 2013.
Given the cast of mostly strong actors, this should be something worth seeing, despite the fact that it’s skipping theaters.
