Just landed on my virtual desk… a teaser for a short film titled Boneshaker by Frances Bodomo – a Ghanaian filmmaker based in New York City, and Columbia University grad; currently an MFA Candidate and Dean’s Fellow at NYU’s Graduate Film Program.

Boneshaker centers on "a Ghanaian family, lost in America, [that] travels to a Louisiana church to cure their violent daughter."

The film stars one Quvenzhané Wallis, whose name and face you'll recall from the critically-acclaimed, 2012 Sundance Film Festival award-winning feature film directorial debut of Benh Zeitlin – Beasts Of The Southern Wild – a film I saw at the festival and loved (my review HERE).

I've even read some suggest that Wallis may be considered for an Academy Award nomination next year (Fox Searchlight picked up the film for release on June 29, 2012). Won't that be a coup for the young lady?

But I'm glad to see her on screen again in Frances' short, which certainly has my attention, based on the short 40-second teaser embedded below (as well as its synopsis).

Frances says she's fundraising to complete post-production on the short, so if you like what you've read thus far, and what you see in the teaser below, and you'd like to assist, click HERE to give. You'll also find several still images from the short there, like the one at the top of this post.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this.
