The first two "Ip Man" movies, which, as Tambay wrote about back in May (HERE), are highly fictionalized accounts on the life of Yip Man, who was the legendary Chinese martial artist who "popularized the practice of Wing Chun [with] one of his most famous pupils being Bruce Lee, who later developed his own discipline, Jeet Kune Do." They were worldwide box office hits. So it goes without saying that a third one would soon be in the works.
And as he also reported, Mike Tyson had signed on to appear in "Ip Man 3" playing "a property developer who also happens to be a street fighter and [who] will have some intense fighting scenes with Yen." And as for the plot, the film will focus "on the master-student relationship between Ip Man and Bruce Lee."
However, while the exact details of the plot are still not known and how Tyson will exactly fit into all this, what has been revealed is that "Ip Man 3" will also include scenes involving a computer generated Bruce Lee which, let’s be honest, does not sound like a good idea. That is unless he appears briefly in a dream flashback sequence. Well, at least, I hope that’s how they’re going to do it.
But yesterday a brief 40 second teaser trailer was released for "Ip Man 3," which will open in China and Hong Kong this Christmas. Tyson does appear in it, of course, but very briefly.
