Here’s your
first look for the official trailer for filmmaker Judd Ehrlich’s We Could Be King, which chronicles what happens when of
two rival Philadelphia high schools are
forced to merge due to financial problems.
The problem is that the two schools – Germantown and Martin Luther King High Schools – have been bitter rivals for over 40 years.
Like so many
U.S. cities across the country, the merger is the result of a major budget crisis which forced Philadelphia to lay off over 4000
employees and close 37 schools.
The film then
follows the “football team’s young, rookie coach and the school’s new principal
fight to overcome insurmountable odds and inspire their young players to come
together and lift each other toward a better future.“
Now the film will open theatrically in New York and Los Angeles tomorrow on Friday
April 25th, and then will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Saturday April 26th
at 8PM (Eastern time).
