Dwayne McDuffie, the Emmy Award-winning writer of comics and animated TV shows such as Ben Ten: Alien Force and Static Shock, died this year at the young age of 49. His many fans and admirers continue to appreciate and enjoy the legacy he left behind by visiting his website, reading his old colunms, and staying active on the message boards forums.
Well, fans of McDuffie’s work should know that a new website, DwayneMcDuffie.com, has been launched in an effort to carry on his remarkable leagacy.
Eugene Son, a close friend of McDuffie’s, provided an introductory post to the website this week, writing:
In the next few months, there will be changes as the website shifts from one that promoted his work to one that reflects his immense legacy. On this blog, the plan is to post things that he wrote, including his old columns and scripts, and get his friends and colleagues to write their stories and tributes about Dwayne McDuffie. A few of us have great stories that Dwayne shared with us that we want to share with you.
The message board forums will remain. Over the years, Dwayne liked to interact with his fans there. Even now there’s a small but active community of Ben 10 fans there. And for legacy purposes, we’ve kept his original website much the way he left it.
I think it’s a great thing that’s being done to keep McDuffie’s spirit with us and help build upon his legacy. Hopefully, Dwayne McDuffie’s life, and all his many accomplishments, will inspire following generations of artists to follow their dreams and, possibly, leave their own mark in the comic world.
