Several celebrities received praise for their work this week while a few others are dealing with backlash. Young Thug dazzled his fans when he graced the cover of Rolling Stone. The rapper donned an assortment of jewelry and a host of other fashion accessories, as well as various types of lavish garments when he posed for several images published in the magazine.

Simone Biles stood up to her critics this week when she faced backlash for choosing her mental health over her sport. The star gymnast, who withdrew from competition at the Olympics on Tuesday while experiencing unusual symptoms, later posted a video on Instagram to help people understand why she had to walk away. The clip showed Biles struggling to land on her feet during Friday's training, as Blavity previously reported. 

“Sometimes I can’t even fathom twisting. I seriously cannot comprehend how to twist. Strangest and weirdest thing,” the Olympian said.

Sixty young basketball stars had their dreams come true on Thursday when they were chosen in the NBA Draft. Oklahoma State's Cade Cunningham was chosen by the Detroit Pistons with the first pick.

Saweetie teased her fans on Thursday when she unveiled The Saweetie Meal, a new menu item she created in partnership with McDonald's. According to People, Mcdonald's will roll out the meal on Aug. 9. It will include a Big Mac, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium World Famous Fries and a medium Sprite. In addition, the meal will feature a "Saweetie 'N Sour" sauce, the original McDonald's sauce that has been renamed in honor of the rapper.

The creation is getting mixed reactions on social media.

DaBaby found himself in hot water after making homophobic comments during the Rolling Loud Festival at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, as Blavity previously reported. 

“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, then put your cellphone lighter up. Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up,” DaBaby said, adding that he was "keeping it real."

Popstar Dua Lipa was among those who condemned the rapper's words.

“I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments,” Lipa wrote on her Instagram story. “I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

One person who attended the concert took responsibility for throwing a shoe at the rapper during the performance, as Blavity previously reported.  

But there were also people like T.I., who defended the artist.

“I guess social media is full of confusion and words are often misconstrued, and to be honest with you, if homosexual people have more rights than heterosexual people just say that,” T.I. said during an Instagram Live. “Just let that be the law, is that the law?”

Pfizer announced this week that a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine "strongly" boosts protection against the Delta variant. 

"Receiving a third dose more than six months after vaccination, when protection may be beginning to wane, was estimated to potentially boost the neutralizing antibody titers in participants in this study to up to 100 times higher post-dose three compared to pre-dose three," Dr. Mikael Dolsten, a researcher for Pfizer, said according to CNN. "These preliminary data are very encouraging as Delta continues to spread."

The Rolling Loud Festival, taking place in Miami this week, is also facing backlash from those who are concerned about the rising number of COVID-19 cases. According to The Miami Herald, attendees were not required to provide proof of vaccination and masks were not mandatory, but encouraged. 

Kanye West is living at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta while working on his album Donda. The artist's team has created a studio space, living quarters and set up a chef inside the stadium, TMZ reported.

Liberia's track and field team stole the show at the opening ceremony of the Olympics when they came out wearing outfits designed by Liberian-American designer Telfar Clemens. 

Olympic sprinter Emmanuel Matadi reached out to Telfar after his girlfriend told him about the designer's sought-after bags. Shortly after, the two Liberians collaborated on the project, Highsnobiety reported.
