The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo were arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple fraud charges. The couple, who were arrested in Westminster, Maryland, are facing a total of 16 charges, TMZ reported.

According to People, the Osefos face charges that include “false/misleading info fraud.” The Westminster Police Department said the couple reported a burglary at their home in 2024 while vacationing in Jamaica. In a follow-up statement to their insurance company, the Osefos wrote a long list of designer bags, jewelry and other expensive items that they claimed were stolen from their bedroom. Investigators, however, became suspicious about their story.

“The Osefos had an ADT system and a ring camera. The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system upon leaving for vacation. During the time they were away, there was no motion detected inside the residence. There was activity, such as package deliveries, on the ring camera that was monitored remotely by the Osefos,” the police report stated, according to Us Weekly.

What did Wendy and Eddie Osefo say about their insurance policy?

Investigators questioned the statement Eddie made about the couple’s insurance company. Per Us Weekly, police stated: “He was asked whether any of the items on the list had been returned, which he denied. He was asked if he had other insurance but failed to disclose to Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance.”

The couple faced more scrutiny after Wendy posted a social media image, which allegedly showed her wearing one of the diamond rings that she claimed was stolen. Per the investigation, the alleged stolen items were returned to the store and “a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.”

In the couple’s statement, they claimed a $450,000 property loss. After serving a search and seizure warrant at their home during Thursday’s arrest, police said they found around 15 items that they claimed were stolen.

How the couple responded to the charges

In a statement received by TMZ, a rep for the couple said, “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
