I’m going to make a prediction right now and say that this will be the highest-grossing Expendables movie of the 3, and just might surprise to the upside, exceeding expectations, when it’s released this summer.
I know I’m already excited to see it, 5 months ahead.
It’ll mark Wesley Snipes’ first major gig post-prison, after serving a 3-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania for tax evasion, and I think his presence alone will be a draw, if only because audiences (especially fans of his) will be absolutely thrilled to see him on the big screen again, doing what he does best, after what seems like ages since his last hit.
But not just him. Snipes will be part of an ensemble cast of heavy-hitters like Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson, fresh faces who both join the existing group that includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Jason Statham and others.
Also, Kelsey Grammer is in this one as well.
So you’ve got a nice mix of backgrounds there, covering 4 continents.
The Expendables 3 is set for an August 15, 2014 release.
Patrick Hughes is directing.
What’s this one about? Who cares? Big guns, big explosions, lots of adult language, and some comedic situations, none of it aimed at the PC crowd. What more do you need to know? You’re either with it, or you’re not.
Here are character posters for both Snipes and Crews, as well as the first teaser (emphasis on the word “teaser”).
