Reading about the Twitter exchange between Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West this week had me thinking about the women in their lives and how they must feel about all the hoopla, particularly Kim Kardashian-West.

This isn’t the first time Kanye has chosen to take jabs at Amber Rose, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of a child she shares with Wiz Khalifa.

Each time he jabs, Kanye is sure to mention Amber’s past as a stripper. There is always an attempt to diminish her by what he knows about her sexuality. Feminists have coined this behavior slut-shaming.

I wonder what Kanye’s wife thinks of all this? Kim became famous after the circulation of a sex tape she made with Ray J. Does she see the double standard Kanye holds, accepting her as his wife but slut-shaming Amber? I don’t hold judgment either way about the women and their choices. I’m just wondering how one woman who earned her fame using her sexuality can allow her husband to degrade another woman for using hers.

Chances are that Kim does go in on Kanye every time he opens his mouth to speak Amber’s name in a way that is less than honorable. She might compassionately hip him to his own blind spots, pointing out the obvious demons still haunting him, conjured by the shadow of a relationship he once had with Rose.

I only hope that in the spirit of sisterhood and the desire for your sister to be treated the way you expect to be treated, that Kim K is checking her husband and reminding him when he disrespects one woman, he disrespects them all.
