Someone on Foot Locker’s social media team has a sense of humor about Mo'Nique’s feud with Netflix.
The New York Knicks’ Instagram page posted a picture of comedians Amy Schumer and Chris Rock and asked their followers to caption the picture.
Foot Locker obliged, and commented “I love us for real,” one of the phrases Mo'Nique used in her now infamous video calling for a boycott of Netflix. In the video, Mo'Nique mentioned the million-dollar deals that Rock and Schumer received for their Netflix specials.
“I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias. I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special. However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, $20 million,” she said. “Then Amy Schumer went back and renegotiated 2 more million dollars because she said, ‘I shouldn’t get what the men are getting, they’re legends. However I should get more,' and Netflix agreed.”
Several commenters caught the shade and many were impressed with Foot Locker’s comedic chops:
"@footlocker ???????????????????????????? Monique gone boycott y’all next ????????" wrote marie__amor.
Chrisrodriguez92 wrote, "@footlocker I’m buying shoes from foot locker now off this comment alone."
"@footlocker who runs this ????????Your petty is REAL!" added justjenn626.
In the midst of the laugh emojis, others weren't amused:
"ya mama stupid, everybody think it’s so hilarious to disrespect black women, f*ck outta here," wrote _baringcherr.
"@footlocker disgusting, the fact y'all think y'all can join in on DISRESPECTING black women," scolded kai_c_rob.
"@footlocker That caption is not cool at all. A brand should not be contributing to the mocking of a black woman who is campaigning for equal pay. That honestly isn't a good look for you," zarinah_sal said.
