Entertainment Tonight host Nischelle Turner was nearly in tears when she learned that she's been named to the Ebony Power 100 List, an honor that recognizes people in various industries who've had a positive impact on the Black community.

Turner, who is being recognized in the excellence in journalism category, was in disbelief when co-host Kevin Frazier surprised her with the big news during the show on Tuesday.

"I think they forgot somebody on that list," Frazier said as he showed the names of those who have been named to the Ebony Power 100 List. "Who did they forget?"

Seconds later, the screen in the background revealed Turner's photo.

"Nischelle Turner is part of the Ebony Power 100 List," Frazier told the audience as his co-host's photo popped up in the background.

Turner was left with her mouth wide open as she heard the news.

"Are you kidding?" she said. "Y'all are kidding. I'm gonna cry."

As Frazier explained that Turner will be a part of a special ceremony to recognize the honorees, his co-host remained in utter shock.

"What? No way," she said. "Are y'all really for real?"

Frazier had to assure her one more time that the recognition is indeed for real.

"For real, for real," he said. "For real, for real."

As Blavity previously reported,  Turner made history in March 2021 when she became the first Black woman to serve as a host of Entertainment Tonight.

“She is warm, thoughtful and full of energy,” Erin Johnson, Entertainment Tonight executive producer, said about Turner in a statement. “Celebrities respect her skills as a seasoned journalist, and our audience has taken notice of her fun chemistry with Kevin.”

Turner will be honored on the Ebony Power 100 List with several other notable names in the journalism industry, including Don Lemon, Tamron Hall, W. Kamau Bell, Abby Phillips, Ebro Darden and Charles Blow, ET Online reports.

Eleven categories are included in the Ebony 100 List. In addition to journalism, the categories include breakthrough creators, ceiling breakers, community builders, entertainment powerhouses, game-changers, innovation leaders, music impact, next-generation, social justice champions and special awards.

Poet Amanda Gorman is being honored in the next generation category. Sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey, as well as Spelling Bee champion Zaila Avant-garde, have also been nominated.
