A Las Vegas white woman is being charged with a hate crime after verbally abusing an Asian family and punching their 6-year-old son in the neck, Yahoo reports. The woman has been identified as Shelly Hill.

In an interview with AsAmNews, the boy’s mother, who requested to be identified by her TikTok handle @uhmmajo, said that the incident happened outside of the Shop at Crystals on the Las Vegas Strip during the July 4th holiday weekend.

“My husband was walking with my son holding his hand,” she explained. “I was with my 2-year-old daughter pushing her in a stroller. She [Hill] came from behind and punched my son in the neck.”

She said her husband grabbed their son and protected him as she yelled at the woman.

“She was yelling things like ‘I know what you people do. You people eat your children. It’s your fault,'” she continued.

Part of the incident was captured on film, which shows Hill having a complete meltdown. In the video, she can be heard yelling, “China” toward the family.

As the wild scene was happening, the mother pulled out her phone, filmed the incident and posted it to her TikTok account.

“By the time I caught up to her, I could see security approaching because I made quite the commotion. All that trash littered on the ground happened when I confronted her and she dropped her things,” the mother said.

“You can see security approaching in the video, but there was also security coming up from behind me. In that instance, I knew it was better to get a video of her face as evidence versus opting for violence since security was already in the picture,” she added.

The mother said her son is recovering but is suffering mentally in the aftermath of the traumatic event.

“He had never seen us that angry before and hopes we never get that angry with him. It startled him so much to see us that way — I can’t imagine how traumatized he would be if we actually got physically violent," she continued.

The mother also said mall employees accused the same woman of spitting on a man and harassing a Hispanic family.

Hill is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $10,000 bail, Newsweek reports

She’s been charged with one count of battery and one count of hate and bias crime.
