One of the latest trends on TikTok involves white girls using the gospel song “In the Sanctuary” by Kurt Carr to retell their trauma. The clips show the TikTok users reflecting on some horrific life situations, including the death of family members and other stories about fractured relationships. In the background of the videos, a gospel song can be heard.

One woman participating in the trend appears to be amused while talking about all the family members she lost due to cancer.

“Dad dies of cancer two hours after my second son was born. He heard him cry over the phone then he let go,” words on the screen read while the woman dances to gospel music.

Still grinning, the TikTok user said her sister later died, followed by her mom, brother and another sister.

Another woman taking part in the trend said her mom died when she was 15 and her dad promised that he wouldn’t be remarrying, but ended up getting married anyway. The TikToker goes on to say that the woman left her dad after becoming pregnant. She then revealed that the woman eventually killed her dad.

Other social media users, looking in from the outside, are in disbelief after seeing the trend.

Still, there are many more TikTok users continuing the trend, touching on sensitive subjects such as breakups, heartbreaks and mental health.

We BOTH tell our story because Jordyn is old enough to make that choice with me. She wants to help others and show that there is always possibility for a light at the end of the tunnel #WeStickTogether @jordynsvibes1
