An Oklahoma man was arrested for shooting a Black teen who jumped his fence during a police chase.
The Tulsa homeowner identified as 28-year-old Zachariah Kade Cook told police he heard gunshots prior to shooting at the unarmed teen last Wednesday. According to Tusla World, there were no gunshots heard in the area at the time of the incident.
Andrew Payton, Jalen Cooper and an unnamed 15-year-old were also arrested by Tusla Police for allegedly robbing a homeowner mowing his lawn. They reportedly took $12 and a debit card moments before police confronted them.
Two of the boys attempted to rob a second man who was watering his lawn. However, they were less successful. The homeowner pulled a gun from his holster and scared off the pair. Police confirmed the homeowner did not fire his weapon at the time of the encounter.
Payton, 20, was the suspect driving the getaway car, News On 6 reports. Cooper, 17, surrendered to police after the other teen was shot. News On 6 reports Cook claimed the 15-year-old was running toward him during the chase with police and that he felt "threatened" by the teen.

Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean said Cook was in his backyard and fired "maybe two shots, striking one of the suspects one time."
“He did think maybe the officers were in trouble, maybe their lives were threatened or his as well, is what he stated originally,” Bean said.
The teen recuperated in a nearby hospital and is currently in jail with the other two cohorts. Cook has been charged with shooting with intent to kill. He has been released on a $75,000 bond, according to News On 6.
Peyton faces charges for two counts of robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police are confident Cook will not face jail time for the shooting. A judge may drop the charges if they determine the use of force was justified.
