Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has been arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm. BigXthaPlug, legally known as Xavier Landum, was booked into the Collin County Jail in McKinney, Texas on Friday, Fox 4 News reported.

What was BigXthaPlug previously arrested for?

BigXthaPlug’s latest setback comes a year after he was arrested in Dallas with similar charges: possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was also arrested in Arlington, Texas in Feb. 2025 for marijuana possession. However, those charges were dismissed. The details that led to the rapper’s latest arrest have not been revealed.

While the charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana classify as Class B misdemeanors, an unlawful possession of a firearm is considered a Class A misdemeanor, NBCDFW reported. According to records obtained by NBCDFW, BigXthaPlug was carrying less than two ounces of marijuana each time he was charged.

Who is BigXthaPlug?

BigXthaPlug had his breakthrough moment in 2022 when he released his hit song, “Texas.” According to Fox 4, the Texas rapper wrote that song while he was in jail. Following the success of “Texas,” BigXthaPlug started his own record label.

His fame has since continued to skyrocket, with more than 19 million fans listening to his songs monthly on Spotify. One of his most popular songs, “Mmhmm,” has earned more than 548 million streams.

BigXthaPlug released his album, I Hope You’re Happy, in Aug. 2025. Earlier that summer, BigXthaPlug joined country star Shaboozey to record a video shoot on the Dallas landmark, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, prompting dozens of drivers to stop their cars and watch the show, NBCDFW reported.

Although BigXthaPlug was expected to perform on Friday at the Country Rising Festival, organizers said the show has been canceled due to a “personal emergency,” Fox 4 reported.
