Will Packer, via his Will Packer Productions shingle, has renewed his overall deal with Universal Television, extending the relationship (initially inked in 2013) through 2017.
“Will Packer is energetic, passionate, creative and wants to win. He is a collaborative partner, a hands-on producer and is absolutely the best dressed," said Universal Television President Bela Bajaria.
NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke added: “Will Packer has become such a fantastic addition to our Universal family. We are lucky to have such an enthusiastic and prolific producer so engaged in network television. Will, Korin and their team truly have their fingers on the pulse of entertaining and fun!”
After cementing himself as a box office hit maker, Packer is looking to take that success to prime time TV, starting with 2 new comedies coming next season that he is executive producing: "People Are Talking" premieres on NBC on October 16, 2015; and "Uncle Buck" will air on ABC in January 2016.
Packer is also set to executive produce the the History Channel/A&E/Lifetime networks "Roots" remake, which is set to air, as an event series, simultaneously on all 3 networks, in 2016.
On the big screen, Packer is an executive producer on Universal’s "Straight Outta Compton" (out in August), which will be followed by "Ride Along 2" (January 15, 2016).
