After years of distance from music, Oscar-winning multihyphenate Will Smith plans on returning to the industry that introduced him to the world with a joint record alongside Joyner Lucas.
On Monday, the “Broski” artist gave Smith his flowers on Instagram in honor of his 55th birthday.
“Dear hero. I never thought I’d ever meet you,” Lucas began his heartfelt caption.

In addition to paying homage to one of the most prominent actors of all time, he hinted at their upcoming collaborative musical effort.
“Still trips me out that I grew up idolizing you, to then me making a record about my admiration and respect for you, to then you asking me to create a whole album with you,” Lucas wrote.
The last time Smith dropped a full-length project was in 2005 with the release of his fourth studio album, Lost and Found, which spawned the hit single, “Switch.”
Although it has been a while since Smith has produced a full-fledged project, he isn’t too far removed from stepping into the booth and freestyling. In 2018, Smith hopped on a remix of his son Jaden’s mega-hit “Icon” alongside Nicky Jam.
The Will Smith-Joyner Lucas record won’t be the first time they’ve collaborated as Smith joined Lucas on a remix of his 2020 track “Will,” commemorating the namesake’s remarkable film and TV career.
Earlier this year, Lucas released a track called “Devil’s Work Part 2,” which touched on Smith’s infamous slap of comedian Chris Rock in 2022.
“Erase that Will Smith slap and turn him back around / Or wait ’til they get backstage so they could have it out,” he rapped. “Or maybe make it so that Chris chose a different joke / A different topic, somethin’ Jada won’t be mad about.”
