Chloe Mrozak, a 24-year-old woman from Illinois, allegedly tried to use a fake vaccination card while visiting Hawaii but ended up misspelling the word "Moderna" on her card. According to Wave 3, authorities caught the red flag when they saw the vaccine's name spelled as “Maderna.”

Investigators suspected that the woman may have uploaded false documents under the state’s Safe Travels Program to bypass traveler quarantine rules.

Mrozak, who arrived at Oahu last week, allegedly left the airport before her hotel reservations were confirmed by screeners. The Illinois resident listed a Holiday Inn Express in Waikiki as her place of stay, court documents stated. But investigators checked with the hotel and didn't find any reservations under her name.

As they examined the alleged fake vaccination card, authorities said the handwritten card listed Delaware as the location of vaccination and stated that members of the National Guard administered the shot. After checking medical records in Delaware, investigators said there was no trace of Mrozak's vaccination.

Police arrested the suspect when she returned to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport for her departure flight on Saturday. According to court documents, the 24-year-old then said she got her vaccination from her doctor at her doctor’s office and paid for the shot.

Mrozak, who is being held in jail for falsifying vaccination documents, has a bail set at $2,000.

According to HawaiiNewsNow, a similar incident also unfolded in August, when a Florida couple was arrested for using fake vaccination cards to travel to Hawaii. A father and son were also arrested in August after trying to pull off the same stunt while traveling to the islands.
